 House of Prayer
LivingStone House of Prayer is located at 28 Harpersville Road in Newport News, VA.
We are housed in a place with a great history of prayer. Our building originally belonged to the Sisters of Poor Clare, an order of Franciscan nuns, who worshipped and prayed, night and day, for nearly fifty years before us. In 2004, they decided to relocate and sold their property to Hope Community Church. Hope founded LivingStone Monastery in 2004, a modern community of believers who live and work together. (For more information on LivingStone Monastery, click here.) LivingStone House of Prayer (LHOP) opened on January 1, 2008.

At LHOP, we love to pray and worship God! Our prayer room is a place where people can come to encounter God. The room is filled with music at all times, either played by our musicians or via live video feed from the International House of Prayer in Kansas City.

In pursuing night and day worship and prayer, we are actually tapping into an ancient tradition that goes back to Biblical times. King David instituted 24/7 worship in the tabernacle of his time. Jesus commanded his disciples to “watch and pray” so that they would be ready for His return (Luke 21:36). Throughout the centuries after Christ, monks, nuns, and others have pursued round-the-clock prayer and worship, including the Moravian community in Germany, which resulted in the birth of the modern missions movement. Today, God has renewed the church's interest in intercession, and houses of prayer are springing up all over the world. We consider ourselves privileged to be a part of this movement and carry on Jesus' mandate, and we invite you to join us!
